"Effective Social Studies is Meaningful"

Why Teaching and Learning Social Studies?
Social Studies education is essential in supporting students to interact with difference within communities. The primary purpose of social studies is to help young people make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world.

Why effective social studies teaching's meaningful?
A. It is meaningful when students see the relevance and connection of their lesson to their lives because it has real world application. Incorporating real-world examples make lessons more meaningful to students because they will be able to connect the learning to the bigger picture than just a classroom .
For example :
The grade 10 students share  their  Autobiography in the class.

B. Social Studies teaching is meaningful  when new information in social studies lesson is connected to prior experiences of students , it means  must be made , and understanding mistakes be earned.
By this , students are more likely to make meaning and gain understanding when they link new information to prior knowledge, relate facts to "big ideas" explore essential questions and apply their learning in a new context
C. The teaching of social studies become meaningful also when students are challenged to use disciplined inquiry or used higher-order thinking skills to construction meaning.
D. It is meaningful when learning is authentic. Authentic learning builds on the concept of "learning by doing" to increase a students engagement.
In this method, needs to have meaning or value to the  students to succeed, embody in depth learning in the subject and allow the student to use what he or she learned for him/her to produce something new.
